What you need to know about DTW
Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport is the most trafficked airport in Michigan, and one of the busiest transportation centers in North America. Servicing the Detroit metro area, DTW is one of the primary transport hubs for the Midwest. The airport sits roughly 20 miles from the center of Detroit, and over 32 million passengers pass through its terminals annually. For such a bustling facility, the layout of DTW is surprisingly streamlined, with only two terminals.
Wi-Fi is available to travelers throughout both terminals free of charge on the AWG-WiFi network. Both terminals also house numerous ATMs, and there is a currency exchange in both the North and McNamara terminals. Both terminals are also suitably accessible to travelers with disabilities, with accessible bathrooms and facilities for service dogs. Wheelchair assistance is available with advanced notice.
McNamara Terminal is home to a diversity of shopping options, including clothing, electronics and book/gift stores. North Terminal also has a smattering of book and gift stores, and there is a duty free shop in both terminals. For culinary choices, North Terminal offers several coffee shops, several fast food options including a McDonald's and a Villa Pizza, as well as a Ruby Tuesday and a TGI Friday's. The dining options in McNamara Terminal are wider ranging, with snack bars, delis, fast food chains, bars like the Heineken Lounge and sit-down options like Longhorn Steakhouse and Mediterranean Grill Middle Eastern Cuisine.
